We sat down with Jenny Boymal, Head of Marketing and Partnerships, and Operations Manager, Nathan Gaughan, to discuss their journey to certification, the benefits it’s brought and their experience with the team at Citation Certification. What is ISO 9001?

What is ISO 27001?

ISO 27001:2022 certification shows that a company has implemented the Information Security Management Standard (ISMS), which is a globally recognised standard. “It’s helped us to build the framework to continue our growth without getting hindered by roadblocks down the track, because we’ve got the frameworks in place that a bigger business would have. We can grow into this system and continue to have that as our governance structure and our ongoing improvement structure.”

What’s the process of getting certified?

“We found the process very beneficial. Our auditor brought a wealth of experience and a highly organised approach, which made a real difference. He was honest, open, and incredibly supportive throughout. We’ve worked with him for two consecutive years, and his consistency and insight have been invaluable.

Nathan then mentioned that he had also started using Citation Certification’s training platform to learn more about Certification.

“The training platform has been a great resource. Just having access to it gives us confidence that we’re supported in understanding what’s required for maintaining an ISO-certified system. It’s reassuring to learn directly from the certifying body, and the content has been genuinely helpful.”

Once you’re certified, maintenance is the next step

Certification will do what you allow it to do; once you’ve implemented the standards, it’s important to keep the processes in place and to maintain your system. That’s when you’ll get the most out of it, Nathan explained how Majestic approach this step.

“In our experience, it’s like any sort of maintenance work – it’s important to do it and regularly maintain it. It’s incredibly useful as long as you keep up with it and you keep maintaining it and not just use it as a mechanism for ticking a box. If you maintain it properly, you get great benefits out of it.”
